First time my portfolio exceeded SGD 700,000 – monthly update February 2021

In February my portfolio crossed SGD 700k for the first time, which seems crazy, given that it only crossed the SGD 600k threshold 3 months ago

Spending and saving rate
I had a great month working “from home” in the Canary islands off the African coast. In one week I will go back to my rainy, cold and locked down homecountry.
In February I spent SGD 4,008 which is an improvement over January. I lived quite cheaply on the island, but of course had to pay insurance and parking for my unused car, utilities for my unused flat and so on… My saving rate in February was only 63%.

In February my portfolio increased from SGD 690,843 to SGD 708,437 (~USD 532,900). Fresh investments of SGD 9,166 were supported by gains of SGD 8,428. Given the valuations in the market, I fear that this might not have been the last time that I crossed this mark….

When can I retire? As soon as the blue and green lines meet I will be financially independent, yay!

I am not far from lean financial independence, during which I could live happily in Southern Europe forever. My job is quite draining and stressful, so knowing that it is only a few years more gives me hope.

Dividends received

My holdings paid out SGD 1,190 of tax free dividends.

Asset allocation

Bought more bonds… Not sure if this is smart with the inflation supposedly around the corner? I am trying to get the bonds back to 20% of the portfolio. Picked stocks are too high, they should be below 10%.

Outlook

I am feeling much better overall, Christmasweight mostly lost. Now that I had a 3 month dry run of “digital nomad” lifestyle I am sad to think it might end… Also my Europe assignment is in its last year and I feel I might be posted somewhere else soon… Hopefully back to sunny Singapore 😀
